LETTER MIXING AND FONT COMBINATION
Comparison of fonts based on a difference algorithm. Close or very similar fonts are placed at the top of the list in order. Different or contrasting fonts are found near the end of the list. (Click on photos to enlarge.)
System requirements
You can buy and download the application from the Microsoft Store.
The software is compatible from Windows 10 (build 1809) to Windows 11.
Suggested minimum screen resolution 1280x768.
FONT COMBINATION - LETTER MIX
The program uses a difference algorithm to find similarities between fonts. It creates a list, at the beginning of which it displays the similar fonts, and as you approach the bottom of the list, there are more and more different fonts compared to the tested font, where mostly letters with different thicknesses are included.
CONTRAST OR HIGHLIGHT
How to mix or combine fonts ?
A font combination or letter mix usually consists of selecting two or three fonts. Then we use contrast or a striking difference between fonts to highlight. The simplest combination is, for example, the difference or contrast between serif and sans serif fonts.
For example, for the readability of the text, we choose a serif font, which makes the text easier to read or guides the eye due to the serifs. Titles or headlines can be typed in sans serif font. Contrast is necessary when we want to highlight and distinguish something in the text, in which case the emphasis comes from the structure of the type of letters. Choosing fonts from a group of nearly similar, identical fonts may result in a conflict, contrast or emphasis will not apply.
ORDERING
Another listing function of the program, which you can use to establish order, is sorting according to different parameters of the font image. Such a parameter is, for example, x-height or mid-height, which lists all the fonts in the given directory in ascending order according to x-height.
x-height is the height of the letter x, and also determines the vertical size of the lowercase letters.
List in ascending or descending order using the parameters below. For example, a list by line weight, roundness and lowercase x height.
x-height
x és T height difference
Roundness
TT gaps
